Be Comfortable in Your Outfit

My go-to fashion tip that I believe instantly elevates any outfit is this: before you leave the house how comfortable are you? Often times we choose uncomfortable shoes, or a blazer that's maybe a bit too tight because we feel that the occasion calls for these items. The truth is, if you're uncomfortable, it will show in your body language and affect your confidence throughout the event you're attending. If you're attending an event with the hopes of networking or just being able to confidently hold conversations, you want to be confident and comfortable in what you're wearing. This can look different for everyone. Someone might feel confident wearing a heel to add height while someone else may slouch at the thought of balancing on a pair of heels all night. Figure out what items make you feel like the best version of yourself and make that the starting point for every outfit. Think of your outfit as an extension of yourself; it should reflect your personality and support your goals for the event. A great way to test this is to ask yourself these three things, 'Am I comfortable, confident, and truly me?' If the answer is no, it might be worth reconsidering a few pieces. For example, instead of classic high heels, opt for a pair of block heels or sleek flats that give you the same polished look without the discomfort. Swap a restrictive blazer for one with an oversized fit or unbutton it to let you move more naturally. Another key tip is to prioritize fabrics that work with you. Breathable materials like cotton or silk can help you stay comfortable in warmer settings, while tailored pieces with a hint of stretch offer flexibility without sacrificing style. If you tend to get nervous in social settings opt for a darker fabric with a print to distract and hide any sweat stains, also avoid polyester blends as these tend to stink when mixed with perspiration. Accessories can also be a great way to personalize an outfit. A necklace or statement earrings can elevate even the simplest outfit while allowing you to keep your base layers comfortable and functional. At the end of the day, confidence comes from feeling like yourself. When you're comfortable in your clothing, you'll naturally stand taller, engage more easily, and exude a sense of ease that others will pick up on. Remember, the best outfits don't just look good, they feel good too.

Consider Your Body Shape and Style

I think it really depends on your own style. Is your body curvy or straight? What about your face-does it have more masculine or feminine features? What is your skin tone? All these attributes influence your 'go-to' style. For example, a T-shirt and jeans don't necessarily make a look too casual, and a black dress isn't automatically classy. It's all about how the nuances of your overall vibe and body shape come together. It's also a great idea to have 'add-ons' for days when you don't have the time or energy to coordinate your entire look. Accessories like a silver or gold necklace, bracelet, or a silk scarf that complements your style can instantly elevate your outfit. If you choose a scarf, go for a neutral color-like white, black, gray, or ivory-so it pairs well with almost anything.

Choose Perfume to Enhance Your Look

Dear FashionStylists.io Team,

As the in-house perfumer at Pairfum London, my go-to fashion tip is always perfume. Fragrance is an intrinsic part of how you present yourself, just like the outfit you choose. It adds an invisible layer of style to your fashion and reflects your personality.

Perfume has the power to instantly improve how you feel about yourself. The right fragrance can boost confidence, elevate your mood and is the essential finishing touch for every outfit.

Just as your outfit reflects the occasion, season or your mood, so should your perfume:

- A fresh, citrus fragrance pairs beautifully with summer attire,

- while a warm, woody scent complements an elegant winter ensemble.

- A masculine note will be ideal for a business meeting to inspire confidence.

The key is to match your fragrance to your fashion, ensuring they work together in perfect harmony.

Best regards,

Wear a Fitted Black Blazer

A fitted, black blazer!

Our required uniforms for the staff at our med spas daily are either black scrubs or black pants with a branded tee.

With that being said, I try to stick to the same monochromatic policy by always wearing black from top to bottom (but sometimes a pop of color with my shoes).

Whether I'm wearing a black skirt, black dress pants or black leggings, a fitted, black blazer instantly converts my OOTD (outfit of the day) from casual to corporate.

For this reason, I own a robust wardrobe of black blazers in different styles and textures... to change up my day-to-day look without deviating from our company dress code.
